Oboe & Recorder Lessons

Rachel is a highly skilled teacher of oboe and recorder with a vast experience of working with every level and every age. Her enthusiasm for the instruments really shine through her teaching. It does not matter what standard player you are Rachel makes sure that you have fun learning and helps build confidence.  Rachel helps you understand the challenges caused by the instrument and the reeds and helps give you the tools to overcome them.

Every lesson that Rachel gives is responding to that individual students requirements and she is very happy to work with young children that want to start learning, adults starting to learn or returning to the instrument and wanting some guidance with particular skills right through to enthusiastic young players who are considering going on to music college, many of which have gained scholarships for their further studies.

Rachel really works on the fundamental aspects of technique to ensure you have a great control over the instrument. The oboe is so much more fun to play when the fundamental techniques are correct as it makes the instrument so much easier to play. Learning through enjoyment is the main priority at whatever level the student is.

Rachel offers in person and online oboe lessons for anyone who would like to have a lesson, any age and any ability. It could be a focused consultation lesson or an adult wanting to refresh their skills and these can be one offs or something you would like to become more regular.

If you would like to book an online or in person oboe lesson please email.

Prices - £21 per 30mins.

It would be really helpful to let Rachel know a little about the type of lesson you are wanting, how long you would like the lesson to be, a bit about any previous experience (don't worry if there isn't any) as any information will ensure Rachel can set up a lesson for you without too many extra questions.

The technology for online lessons...You will need to have your computer connected to the internet (rather than wifi) to ensure a good, stable connection. Headphones will be useful but not ones with a built in microphone, the computer will pick everything up that is needed. I will be using an app called Zoom (a bit like skype but better for teaching) Its easy to sign up and doesn't cost anything. Once you book a lesson I will register the meeting in the Zoom app and send an email with an invitation which has a code for that specific meeting. Here is a link to Zoom so you can register right away. https://zoom.us
